Each PERK product is made of a vintage 100% sheepwool and naturally dyed Altiplano blanket. The tradition of creating these fabrics goes back more than 500 years.
Not one fabric is the same, each textile is handwoven by a South-American "cholita," a fierce lady from the Andes, instinctively and one-of-a-kind—only giving away her identity and origin by its typical color-pattern and style. The use of communities typical color-patterns and style arose from the kind of crops people used to grow around them, using it to dye the wool. The color yellow for instance could come from corn and green from the much loved pepper tree, and many bright colors are made from local flowers and vegetables.
We handpicked our vintage fabrics in Bolivia and with local artisans transformed them into our PERK bags.
